Introducing Campbell Appel
Campbell Appel
November 22, 2022
Campbell has always been a bit hyperactive and an adrenaline junky from an early age and unfortunately his school teachers just didn't know how to handle this. He was told during primary school he was 2 years behind in math's and that pretty much shaped his academic approach. Always behind, no point working for it and he did not enjoy school at all.
He started ski racing at 13 years old which meant only 2 days per week in school during winter term and traveling to the northern hemisphere for training and even less school time. Campbell of course loved this because he didn't have to attend as much school. This year, 2022, in year 11 at school, Campbell has simply applied the hard work he does at ski training to his school work and is no longer 2 years behind in math but getting merit and excellence marks in his subjects. Ski racing has allowed Campbell to achieve academically and now he is planning on doing a business degree at university
Campbell has discovered the discipline of Ski Cross and is on track to attend the 2026 Winter Olympics. Ski Cross is right up Campbell's alley because it is basically motocross on ski's. With a BMX style start gate, heaps of jumps and elbow to elbow racing, Campbell thrives in this environment. He grew up racing and dreaming everything about motocross and is taking that fearless attitude into his ski cross racing. Campbell's goal of reaching the 2026 Winter Olympics is not only achievable but the plan to get there is already mapped out as below.
Campbell will compete in the World Junior Championships 2023 for Ski cross in August. This will automatically qualify him for the Youth Olympic games in South Korea 2024. Campbell will be in the oldest age group category at these games and will be a serious medal contender. From the Youth Winter Olympics Campbell will have the rest of 2024 and all of 2025 to race in in the Ski Cross World Cup Championships which will prepare him for the Winter Olympics 2026.
Campbell will only be 20 years old at his first Winter Olympics, his goals long term are to be a professional snow sports athlete attending multiple Olympic Games. He wants to race not only Ski Cross but the Alpine disciplines of Downhill and SuperG.
Outside of Ski Racing he enjoys anything on two wheels and has been sponsored by Devinci MTB to ride downhill MTB events such as Crank Works and other downhill MTB races. Campbell grew up doing the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon and this can do, never stop attitude has carried on into his ski racing and beyond.
Campbell has learned to love the gym and fitness environment and has been training 4-6 days per week since he was 13. All of his training has been age specific and by making it enjoyable he has found a love of fitness and health. For Campbell it's really not a workout in the gym but a time to play in the gym, de-stress, refocus and have fun with life while making gains and achieving success on the ski slopes. He has embraced the Technogym mission of wellness showing energy and vitality, being efficient on the snow and feeling at ease with himself and others.
